Synopsis
Marilyn Monroe was an American actress and model whose career spanned the 1940s through the 1960s. Born Norma Jeane Mortenson in Los Angeles, California, in 1926, she began her career as a model and was signed to a film contract by 20th Century Fox in 1946. Over the course of her career, she became one of the most iconic figures in Hollywood, known for her roles in films such as *Gentlemen Prefer Blondes* (1953), *The Seven Year Itch* (1955), and *Some Like It Hot* (1959). She married three times, first to James Dougherty in 1942, then to Joe DiMaggio in 1954, and finally to Arthur Miller in 1956. Monroe died of an overdose of barbiturates in 1962 at the age of 36.
