Richard Roat

Richard Roat, a devoted fan of the Lakers and Angels, passed away suddenly on Friday, August 5. An actor with over 135 roles in television, film, and on Broadway, he guest starred on "The Golden Girls" twice, first as a Murder Mystery Host and later as Betty White's boyfriend, who was found dead in her bed the next morning. He also appeared in "Friends," "Seinfeld," "Hill Street Blues," and numerous other television shows dating back to "Car 54 Where Are You?" Richard performed on Broadway in Sunday in New York, Any Wednesday, and The Wall, at The Public Theatre in Central Park in Julius Caesar, at The Huntington Hartford Theatre in Los Angeles in Boys in the Band, and at the Pasadena Playhouse in Moon Over Buffalo. In addition to his acting career, Richard worked as an entertainment tax preparer for over 50 years. A lover of music, theatre, movies, literature, and conversation, he enjoyed playing the violin, drinking whiskey, and following sports. Richard was married to Kathy for 40 years, and they shared a life filled with travel, fun, laughter, and love. He is survived by his family, friends, colleagues, and clients, who remember him for his humor, intelligence, and zest for life.
