Biography

Ricki Pamela Lake is an American television host and actress, best known for her role as Tracy Turnblad in the 1988 film *Hairspray*, for which she received a nomination for Best Female Lead at the Independent Spirit Awards. She became widely recognized for hosting the syndicated talk show *Ricki Lake*, which aired internationally from September 1993 to May 2004. At age 24 when the show debuted, she was the youngest person to host a syndicated talk show at the time. In 2012, Lake launched a second talk show, *The Ricki Lake Show*, which aired for one season before being canceled in 2013. Despite its short run, the show earned her a Daytime Emmy Award.
