Biography

Rocky Carroll, born Roscoe Carroll in Cincinnati, Ohio, is a classically trained actor with a strong foundation in theatre. He attended the School for Creative and Performing Arts, graduating in 1981 at age 18. He later earned a BFA from the Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University in St. Louis before moving to New York to pursue acting. Beginning with Shakespearean theatre, he transitioned to television, appearing in series such as *Chicago Hope* (1994), *Law & Order* (1990), *The Game* (2006), *Boston Legal* (2004), and *The West Wing* (1999). His most notable role came as Assistant Director Leon Vance on *NCIS* (2003), reuniting him with *Chicago Hope* co-star Mark Harmon. Vance was later promoted to Director of NCIS following the death of Director Jenny Shepard, portrayed by Lauren Holly. In 2009, Carroll appeared in the *NCIS* spin-off *NCIS: Los Angeles*, helping to establish the Los Angeles-based NCIS office.
