Biography
Roger Joseph Ebert was an influential American film critic, journalist, and author, best known for his work with the *Chicago Sun-Times* from 1967 until his death in 2013. Writing in an accessible, engaging style, Ebert brought complex cinematic ideas to a broad audience and championed both mainstream and independent films. He was a vocal advocate for directors such as Martin Scorsese, Werner Herzog, and Spike Lee, helping to elevate their profiles among general viewers. In 1975, Ebert became the first film critic to win the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism.
