Scott Hanson

Scott Hanson was one of probably just a dozen babies born to mothers in Soldier, Iowa in 1961. The city leaders, facing the challenges of Scott's intellect and talent, quickly realized his educational needs would require collaboration with neighboring Moorhead, Iowa. This led to the formation of the consolidated East Monona Community School District, which was established just three years before Scott's schooling began. As one of only twenty-three students in his grade, Scott met the "warm body" requirement of the Act Club and participated in school productions. At the same time, the student newspaper attracted his interest, and he began engaging in print journalism. His next venture was broadcasting, which began at a small, 10 watt radio station in Sioux City, IA. Morningside College's KMSC (Your Big Friend in the Midwest with the 10 Watt Arms) provided Scott with his first opportunity to perform in front of a larger audience. Soon after, he was paid to work at KCAU-TV, where he put on makeup and reported the news while completing his college education. After resettling in Raleigh to start a video marketing company, Scott was shooting an audition as a favor for a friend when she suggested he contact her agent, as casting directors often believe former news people have the necessary range and depth to portray news people. He did, and they did.
