Biography

Stephen Dillane is a British actor known for his work in film, television, and theater. He gained widespread recognition for his role as Stannis Baratheon in the HBO series *Game of Thrones* (2012–2015) and for portraying Thomas Jefferson in the HBO miniseries *John Adams* (2008), which earned him a Primetime Emmy nomination. Dillane also appeared in the 2002 film *The Hours* as Leonard Woolf. A respected stage actor, he won a Tony Award for his performance in Tom Stoppard's *The Real Thing* (2000) and received critical acclaim for roles in *Angels in America* (1993), *Hamlet* (1990), and a one-man production of *Macbeth* (2005). His television work has earned him BAFTA and International Emmy Awards for best actor.
