Biography
Wolfgang Petersen was a German film and television director, screenwriter, and producer. He gained international recognition with the 1981 war film *Das Boot*, which earned him Academy Award nominations for Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay. Petersen later directed *The Never Ending Story* in 1984, a blockbuster fantasy film based on the 1979 novel of the same name.
