American Dreams is an American television drama series that aired on NBC. It was produced by Once A Frog and Dick Clark Productions in association with Universal Network Television and NBC Studios. The series was created by Jonathan Prince and developed by Josh Goldstein and Prince, who also served as an executive producer alongside Dick Clark. The show premiered on September 29, 2002, and was primarily set in Philadelphia. Initially scheduled for Sundays at 8:00 pm Eastern time, it was later moved to Wednesdays at the same time from March 9, 2005, until the end of its third season. The series follows the Pryor family in Philadelphia during the mid-1960s, with season one covering 1963–64, season two 1964–65, and season three 1965–66. The show was originally titled Our Generation for its debut in Australia but was renamed American Dreams for its second season. The theme song "Generation" was written and performed by Emerson Hart, lead singer of the band Tonic. The song won Hart an ASCAP award for Best Theme Song of Television in 2003. American Dreams also received the "Future Classic" award at the 2003 TV Land Awards.
