A field trip for elite students from Ballard High School, located in Washington, D.C., turns into a crisis when their bus is ambushed in a remote area and everyone aboard is taken hostage. As the children of powerful figures—including CEOs, diplomats, and politicians—disappear, a vengeful mastermind emerges, putting not only their families in jeopardy but also threatening to escalate the situation into a nationwide emergency.

Meg Fitch receives a cryptic phone call demanding a large sum of money in exchange for her daughter Amber's safe return.
