Crossings
Against the backdrop of growing tensions, the grand ship *Normandie* embarks on a transatlantic journey from Washington D.C. to France. On board is Liane De Villiers, a French-born American woman devoted to her much-older husband, the French ambassador to the United States, and their two daughters. She meets Nick Burnham, an American steel industrialist trapped in a loveless marriage. Their mutual attraction remains unspoken. When World War II erupts and forces Liane to leave Paris, she and Nick reunite—and commit to a love they can no longer ignore.
