Everybody Hates Chris

Chris must navigate the difficulties of adjusting to a new neighborhood and attending a predominantly white middle school located two hours from home, all while managing family responsibilities and dealing with a school bully named Joey.

Chris attempts to win Keisha's favor by arranging for her to tutor Drew in math, but another character is also pursuing a romantic connection with her. Meanwhile, Julius finds himself unexpectedly drawn to Sheila, which adds tension to his existing circumstances.

Chris struggles to maintain his position on the school basketball team despite his limited skill, while Julius experiences domestic tension after deciding to take in a mysterious lodger who pays six months' rent in advance.

Chris becomes determined to buy a leather jacket and begins working with Julius to earn extra money, but he soon finds that the job is more difficult than he expected.

Chris tries to create the perfect look for the school photos in an effort to increase his social status, while Rochelle takes on a part-time job selling cosmetics to earn some extra money.

Chris begins to develop a crush, while Julius and Rochelle handle the increasing number of admirers surrounding Tonya and Drew.

Chris faces a new opponent in his quest to remain the Asteroids champion, while Julius and Rochelle make a pact to sacrifice some of their favorite indulgences.

Chris earns a failing grade in math and modifies his report card to conceal the low mark before showing it to his parents.

Chris's grandfather, portrayed by Jimmie Walker, dies during a visit to Rochelle and the family, prompting the extended family to come together to honor his memory.

Chris is bullied regularly at school and begins to consider transferring, but when his parents refuse to let him, he decides to try to get himself expelled. At the same time, Julius takes a job at a fish market, which increases his income but leads to complaints from his family because of the strong odor he brings home.

Chris takes karate lessons in hopes of outdoing his brother, while Tonya spends time at the beauty salon with Rochelle, catching up on the latest rumors.

Chris brings Julius's copy of *Playboy* to school and begins charging his classmates to view it. However, when Joey steals the magazine, Chris is forced to find a way to get it back before Julius realizes it is missing.
