Everybody Hates Chris

Chris, an incoming high school freshman, is excited about attending a diverse school but is disappointed when the new principal assigns him to the only all-white homeroom.

Chris makes a deal with his classmate Angel, offering academic help in exchange for her help in winning over his new crush, Maria.

Chris feels both excited and nervous when Jenise Huckstable invites him to the homecoming dance, particularly after discovering that her father wants to meet him first. At the same time, Drew tries to persuade Doc to perform a feng shui on the store while Chris is on shift.

Julius and Rochelle increase the rent, leading Mr. Omar to ask for compensation and temporarily move in with the family while his apartment is being repaired. During his stay, he begins playing real-money blackjack with Drew and Tonya. At the same time, Chris takes a shortcut on a book report by watching the movie adaptation, only to learn from Greg that the film does not match the assigned book.

Chris tries to bond with the football team by assisting them with their schoolwork, despite Greg's warnings, which eventually results in him failing his exams. At the same time, Julius begins working at a funeral home, leading him to develop a greater appreciation for life and start giving generous gifts to those around him, though this behavior soon creates financial difficulties for him.

Chris experiences tension due to his discomfort with Doc's new girlfriend and attempts to help her move on. Meanwhile, Rochelle finds a bra in Julius's sock drawer, not realizing that Tonya had secretly placed it there.

Chris is caught in a moral dilemma when a reward is offered for information regarding a shoot-out that occurred outside a movie theater, as he was present at the scene but was supposed to be babysitting Tonya and Drew. At the same time, Julius and Rochelle mark their anniversary with a memorable evening by attending a Broadway show.

Chris agrees to a date with "Big Bird," the school's most unpopular girl, out of sympathy, but begins to develop real feelings for her as they spend time together.

Julius begins following marriage advice from *The Oprah Winfrey Show*, leading Rochelle to question his loyalty. Meanwhile, Chris enrolls in the "Big Brothers" program and is surprised by the identity of his assigned "little brother."

Chris is determined to celebrate New Year's Eve in Times Square but faces challenges in finding an adult to accompany him. Meanwhile, Tonya and Drew compete to see who can stay up the longest, and Julius finds himself celebrated as a local hero.

Rochelle discovers she is younger than she believed after ordering her birth certificate, prompting her to adopt a more youthful outlook on life. Meanwhile, after a stranger rescues Chris during a citywide blackout, Chris attempts to repay the favor by helping the older man connect with new social circles.

Chris and Greg join the wrestling team with the aim of earning varsity jackets to enhance their social standing. Rochelle tries a popular weight-loss drink, which leads Julius to develop a financial strategy. Meanwhile, Tonya's behavior poses a risk to Drew's all-female singing group.

Chris and Greg try to get fake IDs to get into a concert that has an age restriction, while Rochelle organizes a surprise party for Julius, and Drew attempts to return faulty X-ray vision glasses he received by mail.

Rochelle takes the family to a social event, inadvertently preventing Chris from studying for his PSAT. Eager to secure a high score to improve his college chances, Chris resorts to cheating.

Coach Thurman steps in when Caruso bullies Chris, urging him to take up boxing as a means of self-defense. Meanwhile, Julius deals with personal difficulties, growing suspicious of Rochelle's possible infidelity and developing feelings for a female neighbor.

Chris is thrust into a tense predicament when he agrees to hide marijuana for a fugitive criminal, frantically searching for a secure hiding place before being discovered. Meanwhile, Peaches helps Rochelle adapt to a new computer system at their beauty salon.

Chris accidentally injures Greg while test driving a car, resulting in Greg's broken leg and hospitalization. With Greg's parents away, Rochelle cancels her vacation to care for him, leaving Julius responsible for the children at the shore, where it rains every day.

Chris obtains his driver's license and is permitted by Rochelle and Julius to buy a car. However, after the car is stolen and vandalized, he comes to understand the considerable responsibility that comes with owning a vehicle.

Chris refuses to do his chores, leading to a conflict with his mother, Rochelle, who turns to Julius for support, claiming her son is being disrespectful.

Chris is taken aback when Tasha agrees to become his girlfriend, but he quickly learns about the time demands that come with being in a relationship. Meanwhile, Rochelle discovers a surprising secret regarding Julius's previous marriage.

Drew is determined to audition for Amateur Night at the Apollo, even though he has no real talent, while Chris faces the possibility of repeating the 10th grade after being issued a warning for excessive tardiness. When Chris misses the bus and arrives late to school, he is forced to tell his parents the truth.
