Kagome Higurashi is a contemporary young girl who lives with her family near the old Higure shrine. Unknown to her, she is the reincarnation of the priestess Kikyo and possesses the "Jewel of Four Souls," also known as the Shikon jewel. One day, while exploring near her home, Kagome discovers an ancient well and is suddenly transported through it to feudal Japan, a world inhabited by demons. In this time, she meets Inuyasha, the son of a powerful demon father and a human mother, who is pinned to a tree by an enchanted arrow.
