Medical resident Liv Moore becomes a zombie and loses her ambition until she begins working at the city morgue to gain access to brains that provide her sustenance and allow her to maintain her humanity. She also discovers that her new diet enables her to experience a victim's memories, which can be used to help solve the person's murder.

Following the murder of an artist, Liv begins to embrace his visions and gradually absorbs elements of his passion, which leads her to see the world in a more inspired manner. At the same time, Blaine forms a connection with Liv, while she attempts to build a relationship with Major.

The latest body at the morgue has a personal connection for Liv: it belongs to an adventurous girl whom Liv had voted out of her sorority house. As Liv and Clive work to determine whether the girl was murdered, Major approaches Clive for assistance in locating Jerome.

Liv consumes rotting brains in an attempt to gain insight into the murder of an agoraphobic Internet troll and MMORPG player. At the same time, Major investigates the disappearance of Jerome, while Eva meets the owner of Meat Cute.
