Married... with Children

The pilot episode introduces the dysfunctional Bundy family, Al and Peg, who live in Chicago and have no friends. They meet their new neighbors, the seemingly happy couple Steve and Marcy Rhoades, whose lives are soon affected by the Bundys.

Peggy becomes enthusiastic about a health book given to her by Marcy and starts a diet, urging her family to join. Her behavior becomes irritating, leading Steve to persuade Al to try the diet and convince Peggy to stop.

The Bundys and the Rhoades grow worried about increasing crime in their neighborhood. Al decides to buy a gun for self-defense, while the Rhoades opt for a dog. During a moment of panic, Al mistakes the dog for an intruder and accidentally shoots it.

Steve and Marcy intend to use their tax refund to expand their home, but Al and Peg disagree on how to utilize the new space. Al favors adding a pool room, while Peg and Marcy would prefer an exercise room. The episode centers on the family's discussion and conflict over which option to pursue.

As Al and Steve collaborate on restoring a 1965 Mustang, their bond strengthens, while Peg and Marcy face growing resentment toward their husbands.

Al has difficulty purchasing a gift for Peg's 16th wedding anniversary after finding out his credit card is at its limit.

Al and Peg take a romantic trip, leaving Steve and Marcy responsible for looking after Bud and Kelly. The Rhoadeses quickly find that babysitting the Bundy siblings results in unexpected chaos when the children throw a wild party at their home.

Steve loses his paycheck to Al in a poker game and attempts to get Peggy to return it to him without revealing the truth to Marcy.

Peg wants to buy a VCR but cannot afford one, so she takes a job at a department store to earn the money, which causes tension in her relationship with Al.

After a tense argument with Peg, Al goes to Luke Ventura's apartment to calm down.

While Steve is away on a business trip, Marcy begins to have unwanted sexual fantasies involving Al, which trouble her. She shares her concerns with Peg, who provides advice on how to manage and overcome these thoughts.

After believing his boss has died, Al looks for new employment, hoping to find a workplace that recognizes and values his contributions.

Al and Peggy are unable to attend the closing of their favorite hamburger restaurant when Bud and Kelly face an unexpected issue. Meanwhile, Steve and Marcy work to organize a party for high-level executives.
