The series is a fast-paced crime drama set in Los Angeles during the 1940s and '50s, based on the true story of a decades-long conflict between the Los Angeles Police Department and criminal elements led by Mickey Cohen, a former boxer who rose to prominence in L.A.'s underworld. Under the leadership of Police Chief William Parker, the LAPD confronts a powerful and corrupt criminal network seeking to establish L.A. as its West Coast base. The show portrays a world featuring glamorous movie stars, influential studio executives, returning war veterans, and a police force struggling to maintain order in a city increasingly dominated by organized crime.
