The Senate, growing wary of Caesar's influence, urges his longtime ally Pompey to take action. As political tensions rise, Atia carefully navigates the widening divide, while two soldiers are assigned the task of recovering a stolen military artifact.

Mark Antony returns to Rome accompanied by Octavian's allies, Vorenus and Pullo, in the aftermath of Caesar's assassination. Vorenus reunites with his family after an absence of eight years, while Pullo enjoys the pleasures of Rome. At the same time, Pompey issues a demand calling for Antony to be stripped of his military authority.

As Caesar approaches Rome, Pompey begins a withdrawal, forcing citizens to take sides in the escalating conflict. Timon is pressured to carry out Atia's assignments, while Vorenus becomes frustrated by the lack of resistance during a scouting mission.

Caesar works to strengthen his control over Rome as Pompey positions his forces outside the city. Atia hosts a celebration in Caesar's honor, while Vorenus marks his transition into civilian life with his own gathering. Pullo secures a strategic advantage by capturing Quintus Pompey, who is returned to his father's camp along with a truce offer Caesar knows will be rejected.

Caesar is torn between Antony's recommendation to chase Pompey's diminished forces and the possibility of negotiating under Pompey's terms. At the same time, Vorenus struggles with financial issues that lead him to reconsider his career choices. Atia, motivated by jealousy, schemes to create a rift between Caesar and Servilia. Pullo, assigned to train Octavian in military tactics, ends up gaining unexpected insights from the young leader.

Caesar, at a numerical disadvantage against Pompey's forces, seeks Antony's support for the conflict. At the same time, Antony advances in his political career and evaluates an alternative proposal from Pompey. Atia urges Octavian to take on more responsibility, while Vorenus and Niobe work to revive the passion in their marriage.

Pompey launches a surprise attack on Caesar's forces, which are significantly outnumbered. Vorenus and Pullo find themselves stranded at sea, cut off from the battle. Meanwhile, Atia continues to cultivate a relationship with Servilla in hopes of securing her protection, as Octavia and Servilla grow closer.

Caesar arrives in Alexandria following Pompey, where he meets Ptolemy XIII, who presents him with an unexpected gift. Vorenus and Pullo free Cleopatra, Ptolemy's imprisoned sister, while Caesar negotiates with the Egyptian court to settle old debts and secure a lasting political alliance.

Caesar returns to Rome to a triumphant reception following his victories over Scipio and Cato. Vorenus and Pullo face off against the local gangster Erastes, only to be surprisingly spared by Caesar's intervention. Meanwhile, Servilia's scheme to use Octavia to uncover a secret about Caesar fails to achieve its intended results.

Caesar is declared dictator by the Senate, who also announce the end of the war, initiating five days of celebration to mark his triumph. Pullo contemplates a quiet life with Eirene, while Vorenus runs for political office with the help of Posca. At the same time, Octavian brings Octavia out of exile, and Servilia hosts Quintus Pompey, which provokes the anger of Brutus.

Vorenus secures the severance pay for veteran soldiers from Caesar, leading to an invitation for him and Niobe to a social gathering hosted by Atia.

Pullo and Vorenus earn the respect of Roman soldiers for their heroic actions in the arena, prompting Julius Caesar to bestow rewards upon them despite their habitual misbehavior.

The episode begins shortly after the assassination of Caesar, with Octavian working to prevent his family from leaving Rome by implementing a carefully crafted strategy. Encouraged by this development, Antony shares the news with Brutus, while Vorenus struggles with grief over Niobe's death and begins to doubt the loyalty of his children.

Cleopatra journeys to Rome to meet with Caesar in order to secure recognition for her son, Caesarion, which puts a strain on the relationship between Anthony and Atia, who remains involved with Servilia. At the same time, Timon's brother arrives from Jerusalem, the death of Erastes causes upheaval in Rome's underworld and river trade, leading Pullo and Vorenus to step in and take control, while Octavian and Anthony begin a rivalry over Caesar's legacy and the exercise of political power.

Brutus and Cassius seek to gain support abroad as they oppose Octavian's faction. At the same time, Cicero's speech before the Senate undermines Mark Antony's political aspirations and bolsters Octavian's standing. Vorenus deals with the fallout of a gang war he unintentionally sparked in the Aventine Collegium, holding his partner Pullo responsible. Within the Julii household, Octavia remains in a drugged condition, while a young spy named Duro looks for a chance to execute a perilous plan.

Pullo urgently seeks out Vorenus to deliver news about his family. Servilia's scheme to remove a political rival comes at a significant personal cost. Cicero is surprised to learn from Octavian that his triumphant legions are returning to Rome. Meanwhile, Timon in Rome becomes increasingly frustrated with Atia's demands.

Vorenus and his family return to the Collegium, where they are reunited and restored after their ordeal. Meanwhile, Octavian seeks Cicero's endorsement for the consulship in exchange for granting Cicero a veto, and shocks both Cicero and the Senate with his first act as consul. Vorenus tries to reconcile with Memmio, leading Cotta to suspect he has become too lenient.

Vorenus is ordered to conduct a harsh military campaign in Rome, echoing the violent tactics used during Sulla's dictatorship. At the same time, Octavia reveals a secret to Atia, and the decisive battle between the Liberators and the Caesarians occurs, shaping the future of the Roman Republic.

Antony's increasing ambition starts to put a strain on his alliance with Octavian, while Timon and Levi resist Herod's ambitions. Servilia's emotional outbursts disturb Atia, and Gaia uses Pullo's punishment as an opportunity to manipulate him. At the same time, Vorenus becomes cautious about his daughter's new interest in business. Posca also gets married.

Octavian launches a moral reform campaign in Rome, which puts a strain on his relationships and tests the loyalty of those close to him. Meanwhile, Titus Pullo and Lucius Vorenus take on the task of maintaining order among Rome's mercenary forces.

Marc Antony returns to Egypt following his naval defeat at Actium, retreating into a life of luxury with Cleopatra. Octavian attempts to manipulate Pullo to gain access to Antony's court, but Vorenus remains loyal to his former commander. Cleopatra ultimately betrays Antony to save herself, allowing Octavian to consolidate power in Rome.
