Route 66 is an American television series that followed the adventures of two young men traveling across the United States in a Chevrolet Corvette sports car. It aired weekly on Fridays on CBS from October 7, 1960, to March 20, 1964. The series starred Martin Milner as Tod Stiles and George Maharis as Buz Murdock for the first two and a half seasons. Maharis was frequently ill during the third season, and during this time, Tod was depicted traveling alone. He later met Lincoln Case, portrayed by Glenn Corbett, late in the third season, and the two continued the journey together through the fourth and final season. Notable elements of the series included the featured Corvette convertible and its instrumental theme song, which became a significant pop hit.
