The Beiderbecke Affair
The Beiderbecke Affair is a British television series produced by ITV in 1985 and written by Alan Plater, a long-standing contributor to British television since the 1960s. It follows a similar format to Plater's earlier four-part mini-series Get Lost!, which aired on ITV in 1981 and featured Neville Keaton and Judy Threadgold in the ensemble cast. Although The Beiderbecke Affair was originally conceived as a sequel to Get Lost!, Alun Armstrong's unavailability necessitated a change in the premise. The series is the first installment in The Beiderbecke Trilogy, followed by The Beiderbecke Tapes and The Beiderbecke Connection.
