The Last Ship

Captain Tom Chandler and the crew of the USS Nathan James join two civilian virologists on a mission to the Arctic, initially believed to be a study of birds. During the journey, they are attacked by a rogue Russian unit, which prompts Chandler to uncover that the scientists are actually collecting samples of a deadly virus responsible for widespread global casualties.

Chandler and his team travel to the Guantanamo Bay military base to secure food, medical supplies, and fuel, dividing into three groups to handle different tasks. During their mission, they are attacked by escaped prisoners and take refuge with a seasoned private contractor who has been surviving independently in the area.

Chandler and his team face a new adversary who demands Rachel and her research, resulting in a tense standoff when Chandler refuses their request. As Chandler takes bold strategic actions to safeguard his group, it becomes evident that their opponent is also seeking a cure for the virus.

After a difficult period at Gitmo, Chandler and his crew encounter severe challenges when the ship's propulsion system fails catastrophically. Dr. Scott's viral research is in jeopardy, while the crew contends with exhaustion, low morale, and a critical shortage of drinking water. Chandler must depend on his leadership and resourcefulness to manage the crisis.

Rachel, Chandler, and XO Slattery lead a team into the Nicaraguan jungle to collect monkeys for her vaccine research, but their mission takes a dangerous turn when they encounter a former drug lord determined to preserve his control over the local population.

After returning from Nicaragua, tensions escalate aboard the ship when Lt. Danny Green falls ill with what may be a virus, sparking fear and unrest among the crew. As confidence in Dr. Rachel's vaccine begins to decline, Chandler faces the challenge of preserving order and unity, aware that the mission's success hinges on it.

Chandler and a small team answer a distress call near Jamaica and attempt a rescue, only to be ambushed, leaving Chandler and Tex stranded at sea. Slattery and the remaining crew work urgently to locate and recover their missing captain and crewmate before their enemies can do so first.

Slattery takes command as Chandler and Tex encounter a dangerous situation, requiring him to manage the urgent task of securing a vaccine prototype while also working to rescue his crew, who are now in peril.

Rachel and Chandler enlist six volunteers to participate in human trials for a new vaccine, as they undergo intense physical challenges caused by the interaction of the virus and the vaccine within their bodies. At the same time, in the United States, Chandler's wife and father work to safeguard their family from the outbreak.

Chandler and his group return home to find a former Washington political figure battling a warlord who is undermining her efforts to rebuild society. With a plan and a destination in place, Chandler continues his mission to rescue his family, only to discover a startling truth about the new world they now inhabit.
