The Stand

After a deadly flu known as "Captain Trips" kills nearly all of humanity, a small group of survivors who are immune to the disease travel across the country in search of others, guided by visions of a benevolent figure named Mother Abagail and haunted by the presence of a dark, ominous entity.

As a mysterious plague called "Captain Trips" ravages New York City, musician Larry Underwood navigates the deserted streets and encounters a mysterious companion also seeking safety. Meanwhile, in prison, Lloyd Henreid meets Randall Flagg, who presents him with a tempting proposition.

Mother Abagail chooses Nick Andros, a young deaf man, as her unexpected messenger to communicate with the Committee in Boulder. A troubling visitor arrives in the Boulder Free Zone, causing widespread fear and unease among its residents. Meanwhile, Nadine Cross is troubled by a memory from her past.

The Boulder Free Zone Committee seeks to strengthen their leadership and community through a town hall meeting, while Flagg works secretly to undermine and dismantle the emerging society.

Nadine and Harold's sinister plans progress, while Committee agents deepen their presence in New Vegas, a city where Flagg enforces strict control under the guise of sanctioned vice. In Boulder, Frannie devises a strategy to verify her doubts about Harold, while Mother Abagail turns to spiritual guidance.

As concerns grow over Mother Abagail's safety in Boulder, Stu Redman coordinates search efforts, inadvertently creating a chance for Harold Lauder and Nadine to act. Meanwhile, in New Vegas, Randall Flagg gains a new and dangerous ally.

Following a devastating event in the Boulder Free Zone, Mother Abagail assigns critical and perilous tasks to members of her Committee. At the same time, Harold and Nadine set out for New Vegas with the goal of joining forces with Flagg to receive their promised reward.

The Boulder survivors confront Flagg's cult in New Vegas, where they encounter a changed and pregnant Nadine.

Frannie confronts the consequences of her choices as she decides where she truly stands.
