Synopsis

Private eye Jake Gittes operates in the morally ambiguous world of sunbaked, pre-World War II Southern California. When hired by a beautiful socialite to investigate her husband's extramarital affair, he is drawn into a complex web of deception and danger. As he delves deeper, Gittes uncovers a tangled network of personal and political scandals that ultimately collide in a dramatic confrontation.
