Giant
An ambitious drifter strikes oil on a modest Texas plot and uses his sudden fortune to buy up land, forcing a powerful ranching family to confront their own prejudices and the looming clash between old‑world tradition and ruthless new wealth.
“Sometimes any man can be a giant . . .”
Synopsis
Wealthy rancher Bick Benedict and impoverished cowboy Jett Rink both pursue Leslie Lynnton, a young woman from Maryland who has recently moved to Texas. Leslie ends up marrying Benedict, but she is disturbed by the racial prejudice shown by white Texans toward the local Mexican-American population. Meanwhile, Rink discovers oil on a small piece of land, and with his newfound wealth, he purchases the surrounding land, including areas near the Benedict ranch. The tensions between the Benedict family over issues of prejudice lead to a conflict that spans multiple generations.

How many hands made this film
The scale of the collaboration
Principal cast & crew: 22
These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.
Why a floor?
This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.

💰 Box-office hit — grossed 6.1× its budget
Why 2.5×?
Cinemas keep roughly half of every ticket sold, and a wide release’s marketing often costs about as much again as the film — so a movie needs to gross around 2.5× its production budget just to break even theatrically. It’s a rule of thumb, not the studio’s ledger (home video and streaming come later).

Every stage matters — pitch decks and treatments from development, location scouts and table-reads from pre-production, set photos and crew anecdotes from production, edit-bay notes from post, and press kits, festival memories, or marketing ephemera from distribution. Any moment that didn't make the press tour, any document or photograph that's been sitting in a box — please share it so it's not lost to time.
We particularly welcome contributions from writers, producers, cast, crew, festival programmers, distributors, marketing teams, their families, and anyone who was there at any stage.
