Synopsis
Global Groove was a collaborative work by Nam June Paik and John Godfrey. In the 1960s, Paik, along with other artists who shared his vision, recognized the potential of television beyond its conventional role as a one-sided medium for broadcasting programs and commercials. He envisioned television as a platform for enabling a free flow of information. His goal was to eliminate the constraints imposed by the copyright system and network restrictions, aiming to create a new television culture where information could be accessed inexpensively and conveniently. The full-length piece, which was 28 minutes long, was first broadcast on January 30, 1974, on WNET.
