The Deal
Synopsis
As a UK election approaches, Labour leader John Smith suffers another heart attack and dies. With the leadership contest about to begin, Gordon Brown, a staunch Scotsman, appears to be the clear choice. However, Tony Blair is also emerging as a strong contender, as he is expected to appeal to Southern voters who might be put off by Brown. Blair contacts Brown to arrange a meeting to discuss who will pursue the leadership. The film then flashes back to the beginning of their relationship, when they shared an office in Westminster after being elected to their first parliamentary seats.
