Synopsis
During the outbreak of the Second World War, German freighter captain Karl Ehrlich prepares to depart Sydney, Australia, aboard his vessel Ergenstrasse. Ehrlich, who opposes Nazism yet remains proud of his German identity, intends to evade or out‑maneuver a British warship that is pursuing him. Onboard he is escorting Elsa Keller, a woman he has been ordered to return safely to Germany together with any secrets she possesses. When Ehrlich’s chief officer Kirchner, a fervent Nazi, commits an atrocity, the British pursuit escalates into lethal action.
