Synopsis
In 1950s Sicily, con artist Joe Moretti performs screen tests for major studios, taking money or favors in exchange for his participation. Beata, a young and illiterate novice seeking to improve her life, becomes infatuated with him, and he eventually comes to care for her in return. Their relationship, however, is cut short when Moretti is arrested.
