Alan William Napier-Clavering, better known as Alan Napier, was an English actor who began his career in West End theatre before transitioning to film in Britain and later Hollywood. Over the course of his career, he appeared in numerous films, though he is most widely recognized for his role in television. Napier is best remembered for playing Alfred Pennyworth, the loyal butler to Bruce Wayne (Batman), in the 1960s live-action *Batman* television series.
