Biography

Irene Papas was a Greek actress and singer whose film career spanned more than 50 years and included over 70 films. She achieved international acclaim for her roles in award-winning films such as *The Guns of Navarone* (1961), *Zorba the Greek* (1964), and *Z* (1969). Papas also gave notable performances in *The Trojan Women* (1971) and *Iphigenia* (1977), and portrayed the title characters in *Antigone* (1961) and *Electra* (1962). In addition to her acting, she demonstrated her singing talent in the 1968 recording *Songs of Theodorakis*.
