    Irene Papas was a Greek actress and singer known for her extensive film career spanning over 50 years and more than 70 films. She gained international recognition for her roles in award-winning films such as *The Guns of Navarone* (1961), *Zorba the Greek* (1964), and *Z* (1969). Papas also delivered powerful performances in *The Trojan Women* (1971) and *Iphigenia* (1977), and portrayed the title characters in *Antigone* (1961) and *Electra* (1962). In addition to her acting, she showcased her singing talent in the 1968 recording *Songs of Theodorakis*.
