Biography
Jamie Thomas King is an English-American actor and filmmaker whose career spans film, television, and theatre. He trained at the National Youth Theatre and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He began his stage career with the Royal National Theatre in Alan Bennett's *The History Boys* and later performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company in John Ford's *Love's Sacrifice*. On screen, he has appeared in internationally recognized productions, including *Mad Men* (AMC) as Guy Mackendrick and *The Tudors* (Showtime) as Sir Thomas Wyatt. He has also appeared in BAFTA and Oscar-winning films such as Mike Leigh's *Mr. Turner* and Tomas Alfredson's *Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy*, as well as guest roles in series including *Private Practice* (ABC), *Elementary* (CBS), *Call the Midwife* (BBC), and *Murdoch Mysteries* (CBC). He most recently appeared as Zachary Quinto's love interest in *Brilliant Minds* (NBC). In 2016, following the death of his son Benjamin due to a preventable medical error, King took a break from acting to focus on patient safety advocacy, delivering keynote addresses and leading workshops, and founding the Benjamin King Foundation. In 2023, he co-founded Blackbird Productions with his wife, Tamara Podemski. Their debut film, *The Light Before the Sun*, won multiple awards on the festival circuit and earned Jamie a Canadian Screen Award nomination for performance in a Live Action Short Drama. The film is in development as a feature. In 2026, Jamie began writing the second draft of a screenplay inspired by the book *Joshua's Story: Uncovering the Morecambe Bay Maternity Scandal* by James Titcombe, which will be produced by Blackbird Productions.
