Biography
Marvin Frederick Hamlisch (June 2, 1944 – August 6, 2012) was an American composer and conductor. He was one of only seventeen people to win Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards, a collection of honors referred to as an "EGOT." Hamlisch is one of only two individuals, along with composer Richard Rodgers, to have won those four awards and also received a Pulitzer Prize, making him a "PEGOT."
