Biography

Omar Sharif was an Egyptian actor widely regarded as his country's greatest male film star. He began his career in Egypt in the early 1950s and later gained international recognition for his roles in American, British, French, and Italian films. Sharif is often described as "the first Egyptian and Arab to conquer Hollywood." Over the course of his five-decade career, he appeared in more than 100 films and received numerous accolades, including three Golden Globe Awards and a César Award for Best Actor.
