Biography

Simon McBurney is an English actor, playwright, and theatre and opera director, known for founding and serving as artistic director of the Théâtre de Complicité in London. He has appeared in several films, including *The Manchurian Candidate* (2004), *The Last King of Scotland*, *The Golden Compass* (2007), *The Duchess* (2008), *Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy* (2011), *Magic in the Moonlight*, *The Theory of Everything*, and *Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation* (2015). He also played the role of Cecil, the choirmaster, in the BBC series *The Vicar of Dibley* from 1994 to 2004. McBurney has continued to add to his filmography with roles in later projects, such as *Nosferatu* (2024).
