Biography
Valentine John Bettin was an American actor known for his distinctive use of an English accent in all of his roles. He is best remembered for his voice work as Dr. David Q. Dawson in the 1986 Disney animated film *The Great Mouse Detective*. Bettin also provided the voice for the Sultan in *Aladdin* and its sequels, taking over the role from Douglas Seale in the direct-to-video films *The Return of Jafar* and *Aladdin and the King of Thieves*, as well as the *Aladdin* TV series. Earlier in his career, Bettin hosted *The Storyteller*, a children's television show that aired on Chicago television in the late 1950s.
