Biography

Vincent Gardenia was an Italian American actor who worked extensively in film, television, and theater. He received two Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor, one for his performance in *Bang the Drum Slowly* (1973) and another for *Moonstruck* (1987). Gardenia appeared in several notable films, including *Death Wish* (1974) and its sequel *Death Wish II* (1982), in which he portrayed Det. Frank Ochoa, as well as *Little Shop of Horrors* (1986) as Mr. Mushnik.

His filmography also includes significant roles in *Murder Inc.* (1960), *The Hustler* (1961), *The Front Page* (1974), *Greased Lightning* (1977), *Heaven Can Wait* (1978), and *The Super* (1991). Gardenia was known for his versatility and delivered both dramatic and comedic performances throughout his career.
