Synopsis
A film presents a narrative of American history from the perspective of the environment. It traces events from the arrival of Columbus to the simple wilderness living of the 16th and 17th centuries, moving through the agrarian lifestyle of the 18th century and the changes brought by the Industrial Revolution, up to the 20th century, when much of the planet’s resources had been depleted. The film explores the transformation of the North American landscape and the resulting wildlife destruction, deforestation, soil depletion, and pollution that have occurred in the pursuit of the American Dream.
