Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
A talented but reckless rookie driver fights his way to the top of NASCAR while battling cutthroat team owners, dangerous rivalries, and his own ego to claim the ultimate racing crown.
“The story of a man who could only count to #1.”
Synopsis
The fastest man on four wheels, Ricky Bobby, is one of the greatest drivers in NASCAR history. A big, hairy American winning machine, Ricky has everything a dimwitted daredevil could want: a luxurious mansion, a smokin' fast car, and a beautiful wife named Lucille. However, his perfect life is thrown into chaos when his best friend and racing partner, Calvin "The Gator" Gator, begins to outperform him and attracts the attention of the media and sponsors. As their friendship deteriorates, Ricky must confront his own identity and the true meaning of success.

Why a floor?
This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.

⚖️ Fell short of break-even — grossed 2.2× its budget
Why 2.5×?
Cinemas keep roughly half of every ticket sold, and a wide release’s marketing often costs about as much again as the film — so a movie needs to gross around 2.5× its production budget just to break even theatrically. It’s a rule of thumb, not the studio’s ledger (home video and streaming come later).
