Biography
Miranda Taylor Cosgrove (born May 14, 1993) is an American actress, singer, and songwriter. She began her career at the age of 3 with appearances in television commercials. Cosgrove made her film debut in 2003 as Summer Hathaway in *School of Rock*. Over the following years, she appeared in several minor television roles before gaining wider recognition as Megan Parker on the Nickelodeon series *Drake & Josh*. In 2007, she was cast as the lead character, Carly Shay, in the Nickelodeon teen sitcom *iCarly*, a role she played until 2012.
As of May 2010, Cosgrove earned $180,000 per episode of *iCarly*, making her the second-highest-paid child star on television. In 2012, she was listed in the *Guinness World Records* as the highest-paid child actress. Cosgrove also voiced Margo in the animated film *Despicable Me* (2010) and its 2013 sequel. In 2010, she was cast in an NBC television pilot titled *Girlfriend in a Coma*, which did not move forward after Christina Ricci left the production. In 2016, she starred in the short-lived NBC sitcom *Crowded*.
