Biography

Richard Warren Schickel was an American film historian, journalist, author, documentarian, and critic. He is best known for his long tenure as a film critic for *Time* magazine, where he contributed from 1965 to 2010. In addition to *Time*, Schickel wrote for publications such as *Life* and the *Los Angeles Times Book Review*. Later in his career, he continued to write about film for Truthdig. Throughout his career, Schickel was recognized for his insightful analyses and contributions to film criticism and historical documentation.
