Michael Wilson

Michael Gregg Wilson, OBE (born January 21, 1943), is a producer and screenwriter known for his work on many of the James Bond films. Born in New York City to Dana (née Natol) and actor Lewis Wilson, his father was the first to portray the DC Comics character Batman in live action in the 1943 film serial *Batman*. Wilson is the stepson of James Bond producer Albert R. Broccoli and the stepbrother of Bond co-producer Barbara Broccoli. He graduated from Harvey Mudd College in 1963 with a degree in electrical engineering and later studied law at Stanford University. After graduation, he worked for the United States government and then for a Washington D.C.-based firm specializing in international law.

Wilson was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2008 New Year Honours, alongside Barbara Broccoli. In 2010, he received The Royal Photographic Society's award for Outstanding Service to Photography, which included an Honorary Fellowship of The Society.

In 1972, Wilson joined Eon Productions, the production company behind the James Bond film series, which began in 1962 with his stepfather Albert R. 'Cubby' Broccoli and Harry Saltzman. Initially working in Eon's legal department, he later became an assistant to Cubby Broccoli for the film *The Spy Who Loved Me* (1977). In 1979, he became executive producer of *Moonraker* and has since held the role of executive producer or producer on every James Bond film, currently co-producing with his half-sister Barbara.

Wilson collaborated five times with Bond screenwriter Richard Maibaum, beginning with *For Your Eyes Only* in 1981. In 1989, he was forced to complete the screenplay for *Licence to Kill* alone due to a strike by the Writers Guild of America, West, which prevented Maibaum from further involvement. This marked the end of their collaboration, as Maibaum died in 1991 and Wilson stopped writing, though he later outlined an unproduced Bond film with Alfonse Ruggiero, which was scrapped due to legal disputes between Eon Productions and MGM. The next film, *GoldenEye*, was written by Michael France. In addition to his production work, Wilson has made numerous cameo appearances, both speaking and non-speaking, in the Bond films. His first appearance was in *Goldfinger*, where he played a soldier. Since 1977, he has appeared in every Eon-produced Bond film.
